Is There Anything Else You Would Like Us To Know About You?

Is there anything else you would like us to know about you?

That would appear to be the question that looks to wind up the interview. That would make you believe that answering this question as if everything has been covered and offer an answer to that perspective.

But, NO. Experts would not suggest that. Of course, the question most likely comes up towards the end of the interview, but in all probability, it should be the right option to close your interview on a stronger positive note.

What Does the Interviewer Want to Know About You?

The question – Is there anything else you would like us to know about you? – is a sort of an open-ended question and should be a great one if you want to take hold of the conversation and take it ahead from there.

Ideally speaking, such open-ended questions are meant to assessing your confidence levels, your ability to communicate, and self-appreciation you may have. In fact, rather than closing up the conversation, your eagerness to continue it will be seen as a strong point.

When answering such questions, it would be quite important to notice that you do not need to go into details on how you can fit into the job you have applied for. You have already got all that covered up. The key now should be to close it stronger enough.

A few other variations of this question can be:

  • Any skill and experiences, or type of degree which couldn’t be covered during the interview
  • Any responsibilities or future goals and aims
  • Something about interests or hobbies which can be in-line with the company’s vision or goals.
  • Work experience in some other field, not similar to the one applied for

How to Answer the Question?

Now that we are aware of the intention of the interviewer in asking such an open-ended question, it should instead be easy for you to answer the question.

There are several ways that would help you answer the question rather comfortably and efficiently enough.

A few tips for answering that question would include:

Tell About Yourself

You can talk about the achievements you have been able to achieve. Do NOT brag about yourself, but try being realistic to the maximum possible extent. You can even talk about a few things you haven’t been able to do so far but would want to explore as part of your new job.

Talking about the accomplishments, you have been able to achieve in the past would be a practical option. However, do ensure that the achievements you are talking about have a relevance to the job you have applied for.

Talk about your enthusiasm to join them

The question may also be asked to gauge your willingness to join them. The right trick would be to make sure that you are using this question to your advantage. You can add up a few additional points to your work profile.

In fact, you can make an attempt to cover those skills that might not have been discussed all through the interview. A typical answer can be somewhat on these lines,

“Well, we have covered almost everything. But I would want to share a few other things about me. My love for XXX has been quite deeper for long. And I would understand this is one firm that will pay the right atmosphere for the field.”

Medical Conditions

Well, every one of us is prone to suffer from one or the other medical condition. This type of question can be one of the excellent options to talk about in those situations. There are a few situations that should never be hidden. They can cause more issues in the future if you do not share them right in time.

Talk about your honesty about joining the organizations, but focus on the critical aspect of the medical condition or any other essential factors you need to talk about. Make sure that you do want to develop the relationship, and are quite honest about it.

NEVER go with flat refusal

Even if you do not have anything to talk about, be kind and courteous enough to share that with the interviewer. Never use a flat refusal stating that you have nothing more to add up. Instead, thank them for the time and courteously conclude that you have covered almost every detail.

Also, you can perhaps share information about your hobbies and interests. You can take the discussion away from the context of the present job and talk about what else you would love. You can even speak about a few hidden talents – although unrelated to the particular position – on a personal level.

Mistakes to Avoid While Answering This Question in Interview

Well, there is practically no wrong way that you can answer this question. If you really have nothing more to add to what has already been discussed, you can thank them for the opportunity to know more about the company and conclude the interview on a positive note.

However, there are a few Nos that you should be careful about.

Do not start when you have nothing to share

There are times when you would feel you are moving ahead to say something, but suddenly find yourself at a loss to communicate anything. Never start answering something without knowing what to talk about. If you are unable to add anything, just thank them and conclude.

Do not go with elaborate details

The critical aspects of your career and skills have already been discussed throughout the interview. There is no point in discussing it all over again. If you go back and attempt discussing your skills once again, that will have no positive impact on your performance.

So, if you really want to add, pick one or two of those traits and speak about them. Never be much elaborate. That should be the right way to answer the question in a positive manner.

By now you are almost towards the end of the interview. Hope, you have answered well. Now, there is curiosity of getting a call for the offer. Don’t forget, this time it might be your hard luck too. How do you know if you have failed the phone interview? Also remember, there is lot to come forward for you.

Before we close..

Well, that sort of a question should definitely provide you access to an opportunity to correct an answer that was perhaps not appropriately answered. You can also use it to add up the information that might have gone missing when you answered it for the first time. That would enhance the chances of your landing in the job.

Just ensure that you end up the interview on a positive note. The questions such as Is there anything else you would like us to know about you can offer you an excellent option from that perspective.
